In this post, I give you a quick preview of the new Stargrave Mercenaries Miniatures. Made by North Star Military Figures these miniatures look appealing. Right now, they are part of a crowdfunding campaign, but they will be available for retail in the future. There will be links at the end of the article.
I grabbed a few of the images that I found on the web to share with you. Like my post about the Stargrave Crew Figures, this post includes pictures of some new Plastic Sprues for these new Stargrave Miniatures.
Please note, all of the images in this post come from North Star Military Figures Facebook Page.
Now, let’s take a closer look at those miniatures.
The Stargrave Mercenaries Sprues
Here are the sprue images for Stargrave’s Mercenaries. They are much better equipped than the regular crew models.
There are certainly some interesting looking options there.

This looks like a very flexible kit. The trooper box seems interesting as well. Both ideal for my scifi and near-modern warfare needs!
I’m not sold on Stargrave yet though — I know people clamored for Frostgrave in Space, but as much as I love that game and Rangers, I except something different for scifi. I’m tempted to get these minis for other games though.
Someone on youtube is suggesting Five Parsecs from Home as an alternative (and solo!) scifi ruleset, are you familiar with it?
I am familiar with it and I leafed through the rulebook. Five Parsecs from Home is certainly interesting. I can’t talk about it too much because I did not give it a deep read, but you can do a lot in the game and it takes things on in a different way. For example, you also get a space ship in Five Parsecs from home, but it can also blow up killing you in space. A bit more of a solo RPG type game is my first impression of the system.
Thanks again for the comment Andres!
