In this post, I unbox and review the Icons of the Realms: Pre-Painted Hydra miniature for Dungeons and Dragons by WizKids. Right off the top, this miniature’s packaging is amazing. Check out the artwork!
In this review, we will take a look at the packaging, the miniature within and even do some scale comparison too. On top of that, I have a few eye candy shots of this miniature at the end of the review too!
Admiring the Packaging and Unboxing the Miniature
The artwork on this box is great.
Checking out the sides of the box, it tells you that this miniature is compatible with WizKids Falling Star Sailing Ship. I don’t have that, but further down in this post, I will show you the Hydra with a ship by Firelock Games.
This miniature is a part of The Shattered Obelisk pre-painted miniatures collection. I got a brick of those miniatures that I will unbox for you in a future post or video.
When I opened the box, I found the miniature well protected.
When I got the miniature out of the box, I was very impressed with how well painted it was.
One of the really nice things about the WizKids Pre-Painted miniatures that they have for Dungeons and Dragons is that they are ready to go right out of the box. You don’t need to paint them or anything!
Now, let’s take a look at the scale of the mini.
Scale Comparison of the WizKids Dungeons and Dragons Pre-Painted Hydra
This miniature is a pretty good size. Personally, I am using these miniatures for various games aside from Dungeons and Dragons. So, let’s take a look at how it scales versus some other miniatures.
Above is the Hydra versus a Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormcast Eternal by Games Workshop.
A scale comparison of the WizKids Pre-Painted miniature versus a resin sloop by Firelock Games for Blood & Plunder.
And here the Hydra is alongside some other Dungeons and Dragons miniatures by WizKids. There is a human sized model on the far left, and a Goliath beside them.
Below are some fun shots of the Hydra.

Below are some beauty shots of the WizKids miniature. The game mat I am using was made by Cigar Box Battle Mats. Check out this scene below! So much fun!
This sloop and the miniatures on it are by Firelock Games for their game Blood & Plunder. If you visit their estore this this month, they have a generous sale on their sizable two-player starter set.
The Hydra itself looks really good! Check out these shots below.
Even from the back, this is a good-looking miniature.
Wrapping it up…
Thank you for joining me in my unboxing and review of WizKids Pre-Painted Hydra for Dungeons and Dragons. This is part of their Icons of the Realm line of miniatures. I really like that it comes pre-painted and requires no work. It is ready to go right out of the box.
I find that WizKids constantly surprises me with their quality of pre-painted miniatures when it comes to specific figures. This is one of them. The one I received is really well painted.
The Hydra is part of the Shattered Obelisk set of Dungeons and Dragons miniatures. I will be opening a brick of those in a future post. Be sure to come back and check that out in the future.
For now, check out my Glory of the Giants unboxing for more WizKids D&D content.
Until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!
