Great Axe Krull by Mierce Miniatures

In this post, I continue on my look at miniatures showcased at Sword and Brush 2019’s painting competition. The painting competition took place this past September in Burlington, Ontario. That is close to Toronto. Today’s showcase features Krull holding a Great Axe by Mierce Miniatures. Travis Keeler of Hot Dice Miniatures painted this one. As a little plug for him, Hot Dice Miniatures also sells unique double sided neoprene gaming mats.

Krull

From top to bottom, this miniature stands 163mm tall and is based on a 120mm round base. Mierce miniatures states that he is 110mm to the top of his head.

The full sized Krull stands 163mm tall or 110mm to the top of his head. A very well painted mini done by Travis of Hot Dice Miniatures.

He is a Demon captured into slavery and forced to work in his masters army. Apparently that is the Byzantia army according to Mierce’s Website.

That said, I think I have seen this model used before as a proxy in a Lord of the Rings / Hobbit / Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game army at a tournament. Maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting to do that substitution. This is a really nice looking model.

Looking at the Finer Details

To show off more of the mini, I zoomed a few pictures in closer on the details. The work is just stunning!!!

Check out the details that Travis put in those feet. Absolutely awesome!!!

Love that face. Looks so fierce!

I don’t know how well Travis placed in this competition, but his model is beautiful. Just amazing work on painting up a cool looking demon.

Wrapping it up…

This concludes my post about Travis Keeler’s Krull. Mierce Miniatures manufactures this model and Travis entered it into the Sword and Brush Painting competition. For those interested, the event runs again in 2020 and it is currently scheduled for September 11 to 13.

Finally, Travis owns and runs Hotdice Miniatures. This is a Canadian Company that offers Commission Painting (yes, you can get him to paint your miniatures) and really cool double-sided neoprene gaming mats for Fantasy and Sci-Fi Games. Check them out sometime if you haven’t already.

If you like this series of posts, I have seven more miniatures from Sword and Brush left to show off. Be sure to check out those articles and more in my Wrap Up Article gathering together every single Sword and Brush 2019 article that I wrote.

Until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!

Wow. That’s one scary looking demon! At some point you have to wonder whether it’s still a “mini” anymore… though I guess a 1:1 demon would be way bigger 🙂

lol… Very true. This mini is very large but I have seen him pictured in the past alongside 28 and 32mm figures. Happy that you enjoyed the pictures.
