As of now, Cigar Box Battle Mats is in its last hours of its Kickstarter Campaign.
Cigar Box Battle |
On this last day, I find myself dreaming of what double-sided mats I would make if I had the money. For my first mat, which Cigar Box Battle graciously provided to Must Contain Minis for Review purposes, I chose to combine the Medieval City Fight Mat and the Beachhead Mat for an excellent result.

This combination I find very versatile and can use it in a number of games across multiple genres. If you are interested in seeing a couple of Battle Reports played on my double-sided plush battle mat, check out the following two reports.
I also reviewed the product in a past article.
If I were to get another mat, my choice would be an Ocean Mat to match my Beachhead Mat and the newly unlocked Jungle Floor mat. I can already think of three games that I would love to play on that mat!

Another mat combination that I would love to make is a little more generic (and therefore flexible with game settings). This mat would combine their Grasslands and their Mixed Ground Mats. I think those two prints would lend themselves nicely to a number of settings.

While the above two mats are a little more generic and usable with multiple scales, I also love their mats with printed roads. I use my Europe mat from them all the time for that very reason.
The next combination that I am looking at combines two mats with printed roads and trees.
That combination would be of their Wooded Mat with their Jan Juan Hill Mat. For those interested, San Juan Hill was the first Cigar Box Battle Mat that I ever seen and I immediately loved it. I even wrote a Battle Report for that game. The game was Charlie Company. Doesn’t the Jan Juan Hill mat look awesome there?
The Wooded Mat also looks like a lot of fun. I am thinking WW2, but it would work with Fantasy and medieval easily. Check it out.

In most cases, I would choose the 28mm version of the mats because that is the scale I currently play the most.
For those also daydreaming, this Kickstarter Campaign offers great discounts for those that buy more than one mat. Getting together with a group of guys would be a good way to take advantage of this Kickstarter on its final day.
Finally, I also find myself wishing to own some of their smaller scale. Specifically their 3′ by 3′ mats.
While the 3′ by 3′ mats are not available through this Kickstarter, they are available on Cigar Box Battle Mat’s Website. This weekend, I saw a really nice 3′ mat made by Cigar Box Battle, but licenced and sold through Crucible Crush for their Flint and Feather Game. Put some trees on their and the mat looks very slick!

I hope that you enjoyed daydreaming with me and looking at the double-sided mat combinations that I would love to have made. Special thanks goes out to Cigar Box Battle for providing Must Contain Minis with a double-sided plush mat as well as a couple of regular mats to review.
Until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!
