Arvalon 8 – The Final Kickstarter Push

In this post, we revisit RM Printable Terrain as they make their final push on Kickstarter for Arvalon 8. For those who don’t know, Arvalon 8 is a Kickstarter campaign for new 3D printable terrain, miniatures, and models. Overall, the designs that RM Printable Terrain is showing look pretty good and have us wishing that we owned a 3D Printer.

For this post, owner of RM Printable Terrain supplied Must Contain Minis with the photos. As a note, their Kickstarter ends very shortly.

Let’s take a closer look.

The Space Ships – Printed on an Ender 3

The Creality Ender 3 tends to be the most recommended budget 3D printer out there right now. As I do my research, I find that many companies suggest that you use the Ender 3 as a starting point for printing large miniatures and terrain. It starts at around $200 USD. Below are some images of the prototype spaceships printed on that printer.

This ship is called the Mako V2. There is a miniature there for scale purposes. The scale comparison figure is printed to fit in with Warhammer 40K and Star Wars Legions miniatures. This ship looks so cool to me!
A 3D Printed space ship good for your RPG tabletop. 28mm to 35mm.
The Rocket. Not many ships can keep up with the speed of this one.
My favourite ship of the Arvalon 8 Kickstarter. A full sized drop ship for a squad of soldiers or bounty hunters. I think this one would be perfect to recreate x-com in a miniatures game.
The Charon Dropship. This is my favourite one of the bunch. I would love to use it as a deployment zone in a skirmish game of some sort.
A fast space ship with missile launchers. This would be nice for an independents ship in Star Wars Legion. 3D Printed Miniatures Terrain.
I believe this one is the Z1 Chimera. Looks nice!

I have to say, I am loving the look of the ships so far! I will be watching RM Printable Terrain as they model more of the ships.

The Miniatures

The Arvalon 8 Kickstarter has unlocked a number of miniatures so far. Below are some renders and concept drawings of the space crews in this campaign.

A rendering of a number of the miniatures. They are scaled so you can print them to fit in with Star Wars Legion or Warhammer 40K, but you can scale them to any size if you are just printing them off. Their target audience for this campaign is for RPG players, but I could see them being used for miniatures games too.

Wrapping it up…

There are just a few days left to this exciting Kickstarter. This campaign is for 3D Printer STL files. All of the files here are science fiction related. If you want something more fantasy based, RM Printable Terrain still has you covered in their web store.

Personally, I love the renders so far, and I think the space ships look really cool. I really like the look of the Charon Dropship and The Cerebus. Don’t know what the Cerebus is? I didn’t cover it. You will have to head to Kickstarter to see the concept drawing.

    Any idea what kind of filament was used? It seems like a mat black.

      The model is primed. I am not sure what they used for the filament.

      RM Printable promotes filaments.ca on their site, but not specifically what kind.

      Hi Luis. The owner of RM Printable Terrain primed the models before sending me the photos. I am not sure what filament he is using.

    To print the models, RM Printable Terrain used grey ecotough printed at .12 on the Ender3 Pro. To prime the models, they used a single coat of matte black primer from Walmart.
