Today I am going to quickly show you the Winged Tyranid Prime Miniature new to the current Tyranid Combat Patrol and 40K Starter Sets. You won’t find this in the Introductory 40K Starter Set, but it is in the Regular Starter Set and the Ultimate Starter Set.

If you are interested in other Tyranid miniatures in this boxed set, I also have a review of the Psychophage miniature from these starter kits.

The mini I have is from the Levithan Boxed set, but they are the same. Let’s take a closer look.

A close up of the model

The Tyranid Winged Prime Sprue

Below we have a quick look at the sprue used to build this model. There aren’t a lot of pieces on here, but they go together really easily.

The Winged Tyranid Prime

The Winged Tyranid Prime can be used on its own, with a Gargoyle Brood or with either the melee or ranged weapon versions of Tyranid Warriors. “On paper,” I wonder if this figure pairs best with the Gargoyles. The Prime gives every model in the group sustained hits and the Gargoyles can shoot and move. That said, the Tyranid Prime is a melee beast, so I am thinking of pairing him up with the melee version of Tyranid Warriors.

Either of those minis might be hard to find right now. Those Gargoyle minis went Online Order only from Warhammer while the Tyranid Warriors box is temporarily out of stock. Perhaps you can still find them at your neighbourhood friendly local gaming store.

The Winded Tyranid Prime itself looks great, but I find it has a best angle for photos, which is the one below.

Right now, you can only get him from the Warhammer 40K Starter Set, Ultimate Starter Set or the Tyranid Combat Patrol box set. Perhaps some day he will be available individually, but that is not right now.

Wrapping it up…

Today’s post is a quick Winged Tyranid Prime miniature review. Overall, I like the model and I think the blade on his head is a cool aesthetic. I hoped that Games Workshop would release a Winged version of their Tyranid Warriors model, but they have not and that is not in the current Tyranid Codex either.

Have you got your hands on this model?

Until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!

This is such a great mini! It’s a nice centerpiece to a Tyranid army!
